Episode 1 : How to get Life for Pot.
We talk with Beth Curtis about how and why she started the Life for Pot organization.
In 1996 her brother John was arrested in Paris. He was held there for nearly four years as he fought against extradition to the United States.
John lost the battle against being extradited. He was sent to stand trial in Florida, a state where he had never smuggled anything. He was accused and convicted of crimes he knew nothing about but because it was a conspiracy crime the court sentenced him for all the weight and instances of possible times the "conspiracy" had smuggled hash and pot.
This was when Beth (and the rest of John's family) learned that people are sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for conspiracy to distribute marijuana.
